FECU 90th Celebration Scholarship

The FECU awarded $1,000 scholarships to four students to honor our 90 years of serving members. Applications and essay were due by February 28, 2024. 

Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to Julia Haarstad, Jadyn Olsem, Derek Klecker, and Sierra G Larson for being selected to receive $1,000 scholarships from Federated Employees Credit Union. This year’s winners will receive their scholarship money after completing the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year.

ESSAY: "How has FECU helped members manage their money over the past 90 years and what role does FECU play in your financial future?"  

For 90 years, FECU has provided a member-owned financial service that prioritizes the needs of Federated employees and their families. Instead of looking to generate profits, FECU offers lower rates on loans and higher rates on deposits to benefit members. FECU emphasizes financial responsibility, allowing employees’ families to become members and offering the Save-N-Grow program to educate future generations. Growing up, I had the opportunity to learn and invest in FECU’s savings and certificate accounts. Once my income grows, I plan to utilize the money market account to maximize my investments and loans to make large purchases like a vehicle.

FECU has been a stable resource to its members in all stages of life. Committed to educating their members, they have provided optimal advice during big and small financial resolutions. Members have been equipped with the right tools and information to support making insightful life decisions. Online and mobile accessibility makes banking convenient while I'm away at college. With upcoming college expenses, managing my money can be stressful. However, I am reassured knowing that I can depend on FECU to help me achieve my financial goals. Upon graduation, I will further utilize the available options as my financial needs change.

FECU is a not-for-profit run by a voluntary Board of Directors, therefore they have been able to offer the lowest financing rates to all members without charging fees. It’s also known that the Board of Directors are members of the credit union. This gives me peace of mind knowing that what is in their best interest, is also within mine. FECU has played a great role in my life as my first bank account and first credit card. For the future, I foresee FECU being a part of my first car and home purchases, along with wedding savings.
